Celebrating Port Melbourne Mum’s & Caregivers
Hosting a successful event is about more than just planning and creativity - it’s about heart and collaboration. Recently, we had the pleasure of contributing our floral design services to a heartwarming Mother’s Day fundraiser organised by a local primary school. This annual event isn’t just an important fundraiser; it’s a special day to honour and celebrate the incredible mums and caregivers in our community. With innovative fundraising ideas and the beauty of Mother's Day flowers, we helped create an atmosphere that made the day truly memorable. How did you find your venue and select it over other options? What were you looking for in a venue?
We actually had a different venue booked but when they went into liquidation we had to scramble quite a bit and also lost our deposit! Luckily we found the Pier who were a delight to deal with, were in the right area and could accommodate the amount of women we needed. They also have wonderful views and an excellent food and drink package!
What was your plan of attack for the planning process? Budgets, making decisions, inviting guests?
The event is a Mother’s Day lunch (although it goes into the evening!) that we run as a fundraiser for our local primary school. The money we raise from these events is integral to what we can offer within the school but the event is also an excellent opportunity to celebrate mums/caregivers in the community. Because it is a fundraising event budgeting is extremely tight. We have been running the event for four years now and always want to raise as much money as possible while also creating a fun and special event.
What was your vision for the day and how did you choose your style? Why was this important to you?
This is an opportunity for 200 plus of our mums/caregivers to let their hair down and feel special so this is what we always want from our event. A touch of glam!
Why was including floral arrangements as part of your event important to you?
Having beautiful flowers really does elevate the event and makes it feel so much more special. The women love to feel spoilt and looked after, and flowers absolutely do that!
What led you to choose April & Fritz for your floral design?
Bree reached out to us and offered her services after learning about the trouble we ran into with our first venue. The local florist that we had been using in the years prior had moved away so we were incredibly grateful and were blown away by Bree’s generosity and beautiful arrangements.
Could you share some insights into your planning process for the floral design? How did April & Fritz assist you in bringing your vision to life?
We have a different invite and marketing design every year - always floral! We provided Bree with this template and she matched the colour palette and feel perfectly.
In what ways do you feel the floral designs contributed to the overall atmosphere of your day?
The floral designs made a huge difference! The venue is lovely and has a great view but the flowers transformed it from a regular space to something really special!
Were there any specific moments or details related to the floral designs that stood out to you?
Just the process of dealing with Bree was fabulous. It really was an absolute delight from start to finish and we’re very grateful!
