Jenna & Wishy’s Geelong Wedding

Your wedding day is undeniably one of the most special days of your life. It's a day where your love story takes centre stage and every detail, from the wedding dress to the wedding cake, contributes to bringing your vision into reality. Newlyweds Jenna and Wishy graciously share their journey, shedding light on how the choice of wedding flowers such as their ceremony feature and bridal bouquet added a layer of colour and charm to set the stage for a day filled with love. Their genuine love for each other, easygoing nature and appreciation for vibrant colours made their wedding an absolute joy to be part of.

What was your vision for the day and how did you choose your style? Why was this important to you?

While I’m not super knowledgeable on flowers, I knew I wanted bright and fun colours for our wedding. Through my first consultation with Bree, we were able to chat through a colour palette and flower types that would work and land on a really incredible look and feel!

Why was including floral arrangements as part of your wedding important to you?

We knew that the flowers would be an enormous statement piece, standing with us while we got married, so we wanted to really set the tone of the day with fun and bright colours. We were also keen to repurpose the ceremony arrangement too, to complement what we had happening in the reception.

What led you to choose April & Fritz for your floral design?

My sister had seen Bree’s work before and recommended her as being able to work with us to fit the vibe of the wedding we wanted - I’m so glad we followed through with her recommendation!

How did you find 1915 and select it over other locations as the venue for your big day? What were you looking for in a venue?

I had been to 1915 a couple of times and loved it, and when I took my (now!!) husband there, he also fell in love with the sheer grandeur of the building too. The food and drinks there are absolutely to die for, and we loved that we were able to have our whole wedding at the one location and split it over a variety of spaces within the venue. It also had a solid wet weather contingency so that was one less thing we had to think about in the lead-up!

What was your plan of attack for the planning process? Budgets, making decisions, inviting guests?

Firstly, we came up with a guest list, which was very extensive, and then, once we confirmed that 1915 was able to cater for this list, we locked it in. From there, we took recommendations on music, photography, flowers, makeup, hair, cake, etc., and kind of built the whole event around that. Recommendations work… we couldn’t have asked for a more incredible group of vendors to deliver the day we dreamed of!

Could you share some insights into your planning process for the floral design? How did April & Fritz assist you in bringing your vision to life?

I came to Bree with a photo of a bouquet that I loved, and Bree really guided our vision from there. She came to us with the most detailed mood board following our first consultation, and we were so happy with how it looked that we just ticked it off with her there and then. We just trusted her, and we honestly couldn’t have been happier with the outcome on the day!

in what ways do you feel the floral designs contributed to the overall atmosphere of your day?

They were the statement piece at our ceremony, literally the first thing people saw as they arrived, and the bright, bold, and fun colours really set the tone of the day. While they were bright and fun, the photos also really give a sense of romance too. And the fact we were able to repurpose them at our venue, surrounding our cake and guest audiobook was just amazing. They really complimented all the individual elements of the wedding and brought them all together.

Were there any specific moments or details related to the floral designs that stood out to you?

My bouquet was simply divine. The gorgeous collection of flowers that Bree produced worked so well together, and it was perfect for my dress. And while the bouquet was different from our ceremony flowers, the synergy of design was there, and it all flowed so well. I have had soooo many comments about our florals!

What’s some advice you would give to loved-up couples planning their day?

It’s all worth it. It will potentially be the most stressful time of your life in the build-up to it, but I promise it is all worth it. I honestly had the best day of my life despite the hectic amount of stress in the build-up. If you’re contemplating having a wedding, do it!

Anything else you’d like to share?

I just want to thank Bree for making the floral element of our wedding flow so easily. From our initial meeting, I knew we were in good hands and absolutely trusted Bree with the vision. We couldn’t have been happier on the day. Bree just brought all the right vibes, from our first catch-up, to delivering our items on the day, we’re just so stoked we chose her to be part of our day, and we couldn’t recommend her highly enough!
